Who is J'lyricz

Jlyricz is a Christian Afro&B, Afropop and Afrofusion artist from Lagos, Nigeria. Born in Benin City, he spent his formative years traveling and living in different cities across different regions of the country. He was introduced early to music by his father who had a sizeable diverse collection of music; Oliver De Coque, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Seal, Fela, Ebenezer Obey etc.
Being exposed to those records triggered his love for music and also made him appreciate the diversity in music which would later influence how he saw and created his own music. At the age of 7, young Jlyricz was writing short stories and in a few a couple of years was writing songs which he did by switching the lyrics of his favorite songs while keeping the melodies. By 16, he was writing original music for himself and his musical group, the teenage quartet; Ultra4 which he co-founded with his friends when he was 17. After leaving Bayelsa, where Ultra4 was based he temporarily stopped recording music and decided to behind the scene penning songs for others.

He stint as a songwriter led him to working with the likes of Styl-Plus, Waje, Omawumi before deciding to become a recording artist again. After working on some solo songs for a while and putting out a couple releases online for free download, he took a hiatus from music entirely and this lasted a couple of years.
He returned to music in 2015 and since then he has released over 30 singles , 4 EPs, 2 compilations and is currently working on his debut album.
The groovy yet soulful melody of most of his songs as well as his lyrics which range from poetic, witty and frank also makes his music unique and refreshing making his garner a sizeable youthful audience.
Along with gaining positive reviews and reception across multiple platforms for his music worldwide he has also amassed close to 10 million streams on all platforms.
Along with the likes of Limoblaze, Calledout Music, Oba Reengy, Prinx Emmanuel e.t.c, Jlyricz is among a new generation of Christian artists serving catchy Christian music with the undiluted Gospel. His influences are Tye Tribbett, Matt Redman, Frank Edwards, Tim Godfrey and KJ Scriven.

Victor Akajiofor-Jones professionally known as Jlyricz, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, recording artist and poet. However it wasn't until 2015 that his professional musical journey started with the release of his first single "Idi Nma" and since then the prolific songwriter has churned out an amazing collection of releases; singles, EPs, Compilations. He is currently working on multiple projects; two EPs and his debut album. Jlyricz believes music can be
used as a force for good and describes his music as Pop/Afro-fusion. He is inspired by the Holy Spirit, his personal experiences and those of others around as well as his environment.
